Apple Watch Series 5 vs Samsung Galaxy Watch 3

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 Now Better than the Apple Watch Series 5?

hey what's up folks how's it going this watch hope you guys are all doing well and today we're going to be taking a look at the new Samsung galaxy watch 3. we've been testing this thing out for a while now and it pretty much looks exactly the same as the original galaxy watch that came out a few years ago in fact it really hasn't changed since the galaxy gear lineup of watches that were kind of the first generation smartwatches available from Samsung now that being said the last smartwatch Samsung came out with was the galaxy active 2 which for some reason didn't have the physical rotating dial at the front face of the watch which in my opinion is the best part about using any of these Samsung smartwatches in the first place the galaxy active 2 had a touch base capacitive a dial that you would swipe around the rim of the watch and it would more or less do the same thing as the physical dial now we have the physical dial back and we have some of the capabilities of the galaxy active 2 mainly the better integration with the s health app on your smartphone as well as having blood oxygen sensors built into the heart rate monitor as well as the potential to read EC G's and EKGs uh like the apple watch famously does currently right now of course that brings us to the big question that we're gonna address in this Blog is how does the galaxy watch three compared to the best smartwatch that you can get right now the series five Apple watch and before we do a deep dive into that topic let's talk about our sponsor raid shadow legends that made this Blog possible the raid shadow legends are probably one of the biggest mobile RPG fantasy games out there it's one of the most played and downloaded mobile games ever and for good reason with a massive player versus environment campaign map that spans over 13 spectacular locations as well as a super intense and competitive PVP the arena where players can go head-to-head unlock special and unique gear for their champions and climb the ranks now the sheer variety of the champions and characters.

You can build in this game is super expensive you have 16 different factions ranging from sorcerers skinwalkers undead elves and a whole lot more in fact, there are about 500 different types of champions all together and with millions of different artifacts and gear you can equip them with the possibilities of creating and evolving your champion over the game's lifespan is truly endless on top of that the game is continuously being upgraded and expanded with special events that allow you to actually collect fragments of ultra-rare and expensive champions that you can ultimately summon and get for free right now there are several events running right to the end of august that allows you to collect fragments of Cruella witch arm which is an ultra-rare and expensive champion if you buy it outright but with these events, you get the chance to get her for free which is pretty cool additionally there's a new bazaar that allows you to get high-value items for your champion that you can buy with gold bars that you've collected through tag arena wins and they've just extended the daily login rewards up to 270 days so you can essentially get free incentives for just logging in playing every day and this is an excellent time if you haven't played the game already to get started and by using the link below you get a hundred thousand silver a free champion as well as a couple of more bonus items including two clan boss keys and three ancient shards you'll find all these bonus items located in your game's inbox on the top right-hand side of the game's main menu display we want to thank raid shadow legends for making this content possible now first let's talk about the overall design philosophy of both of these watches and they're more or less the same since the conception of both the first generation versions of the smartwatches respectively the apple watch still utilizes a square rectangular screen miniaturizing the smartphone experience versus the galaxy watch much like many other smartwatches including most of the google android wear os devices use a circular display kind of mimicking a more traditional watch face look now both in terms of screen real estate usability factors and things like that from a touch screen perspective it definitely makes a lot of sense to have a square the screen you get more screen real estate in fact the body to screen ratio is a lot higher on the apple watch and not to mention since we're not cutting off uh all corners of the display the app integration are definitely going to be a lot better than most circular touch screen interfaces now that being said since we do have that physical rotating dial back on the galaxy watch 3 the navigation and the custom Tizen operating system that Samsung has been using for their smartwatches is definitely better integrated than many other smartwatches on the market furthermore in terms of the building materials and overall fit and finish the Samsung watches have always been really good I don't think that they're still up to the standards of the apple watch which is even uh from a budgetary standpoint the cheapest watch.
I think is still better built and has a better overall fit and finish than most of the Samsung watches which tend to get nicked a little easier the screen it doesn't have an oleophobic coating so it's a fingerprint magnet but in terms of materials it's using premium material stainless steel frame construction on most of the watches it's also available in titanium frame and gorilla glass scratch-resistant technology for the actual wash face, itself apple has definitely more options in terms of building materials you can get it in aluminum recycled material stainless steel as well as titanium and a couple of other uh variants of those materials the glass is ion strength and oleophobic uh very good in terms of repelling off most of your fingerprints for a while eventually that coating does come out and it becomes a fingerprint magnet like every touch screen but generally better then the Samsung watch and it's also available in self crystal glass if you want extra protection and luxury at the front and back of the watch now in terms of overall ruggedness and durability both are rated for a water-resistant down to about 50 meters deep uh they're both pretty sealed so definitely not going to have any problems with sweat or any kind of moisture getting on them and they're both pretty dust resistant as well furthermore in terms of strap options apple.

I think at this point does a great job in giving you a whole variety of different strap options you can also adapt third party straps as well there's a decent market for that and Samsung is just pretty darn universal you can really use any 20-millimeter strap options that are available from them or any other manufacturer now let's talk about fall detection and now interestingly the Samsung does have the capability of detecting a fall but it's only during certain strenuous physical activities, it doesn't really detect falls at all times so for example if you're sitting and you suddenly fall and you've incapacitated the Samsung watch really doesn't know any better versus the apple watch is actively monitoring your movements pretty much 24 7 and it can actually initiate an emergency call in an event where you suddenly fall down or incapacitated it'll monitor whether you're moving after the fall if it detects no movement from you it will then initiate at the emergency call so in terms of fall detection the Samsung watch does have the capabilities but it's pretty limited compared to the capabilities of the apple watch now one Achilles heel on the apple watch is that it still doesn't have any sleep detection built I'm sure it's coming on a new watch OS update as well as probably on the new series 6 uh coming up but this is where the Samsung galaxy watch 3 has a slight advantage we have multiple stages of sleep monitoring uh evaluating the different levels of sleep that you're in throughout the night as well as rapid eye movement or rem sleep cycles that will track your recovery give you asleep score now I didn't get a chance to test this because I really can't sleep with anything on my wrist so for me personally sleeps tracking on a smartwatch is kind of pointless.

I think there are better solutions out there for sleep monitoring we've done Blogs on the sleep zen buds as well as loop straps and things like that where it's probably more ideal for sleep monitoring for me personally but if you uh do want to track your sleep stages and everything like that the Samsung does have that technology straight out of the box now in terms of a fitness tracking device, the apple watch has a plethora of different applications integration with Nike plus Adidas a whole bunch of different running applications that are very highly developed and fairly established at this point and not to mention a fairly great built-in fitness tracking a system that will allow you to track and monitor a whole bunch of different activities ranging from swimming yoga running a resistance training a whole bunch of other things now the Samsung Tizen operating system has a bunch of uh similar capabilities in terms of having built-in different physical activities that you can track for the most part it's definitely not as accurate in terms of giving you a precise amount of calories burned and things like that there was a huge variation sometimes the heart rate monitor was off and sometimes the overall effort rating of how hard the particular workout was too conservative based on my opinion although most things are fairly inaccurate in terms of how many calories you're actually burning based on all things and all the different variables out there but generally speaking the Samsung one I found was pretty lackluster for the most part and from a fitness companion standpoint I'd probably go with the apple watch based on my personal experience although in terms of a running companion they've made some major improvements to the running coach built-in uh the big addition is that it'll actually tell you whether uh your symmetry on each of your strides is either uh left uh dominar right dominance or you have good uh symmetry on both left and right side and it'll let you know that you need to improve your running mechanics for better overall efficiency longevity and you also have things like GPS data so it'll track your route fairly rudimentary stuff that's been available on the apple watch for years now let's talk about the battery performance of both of these two first let's talk about capacity now we have the smaller versions of both respective watches so the 41-millimeter version of the Samsung watch 3 has a 247 milliamp-hour battery and the 40-millimeter version of the apple watch has a 245 milliamp-hour battery so pretty much uh the same size uh battery uh for For the most part uh both can definitely last throughout the day and if you use the always on uh display on the Samsung galaxy watch with the brightness cranked up you're definitely going to struggle to get a day and maybe a day and a half at best generally speaking with the apple watch I can certainly manage two days uh thanks to the fact that it does have a variable refresh uh on the display itself so when it knows it's not being used or when you're glancing at it but nothing's being really uh processed to a high uh regard actually a step-down the refresh rate of the display saving a tremendous amount of battery life and the overall efficiency of the internals are definitely better as well now both watches have a built-in qi wireless charging enabled so you can use any a wireless charging pad that's compatible including the reverse wireless charging capabilities that many of the latest generation smartphones from Samsung offer now, in conclusion.

I still think that the apple watch series 5 head and shoulders beyond what any other smartwatch is offering right now and although the galaxy watch 3 is a decent alternative to the apple watch if you're coming from the android side of things, I can't use an apple watch in the first place it's still fairly behind and kind of a disappointment to me basically, Samsung didn't do anything to improve uh the original galaxy watch design, in fact, it's using the same internal architecture the same Exynos 9110 a processor that they've been using for years the same Tizen operating system that has barely any upgrades and with the addition of some of the upgraded sensors such as the ECG and EKG capabilities which are by the way and not even available in most parts of the world besides South Korea and although eventually when it gets turned out through most parts of the world uh the ability to read EC G's and EKGs isn't a huge deal for I think most people out there it's not going to be something that sells a tremendous amount of watches and probably not going to convert apple watch users to the Samsung side, uh but besides that guys that's really it definitely loves to hear your thoughts on what you think of the Samsung galaxy watch 3 I'm really curious to see how what will happen with the new generation apple watch the series 6 that will be coming out very very soon make sure you subscribe to the channel for that upcoming content I'm now checking the description for down below big thanks to raiding shadow legends for making this Blog possible in the first place see you later subscribe if you haven't already and we'll take care.
